I really like to golf. Maybe even a little too much. I know all the local courses in Seattle, but when I take a vacation, I like to take my sticks and play a few rounds. In February of 2026, I went to Mexico with my family and looked for a couple of nice courses to play. It was really difficult to find any somewhat comprehensive reviews of the local golf courses. I found it really frustrating. All I could find was trip advisor reviews that said things like “it should have been better for the price” or “the drink cart didn’t come around enough and was too expensive”. Almost half of the reviews were for the restaurant or the wedding venue. I wanted to know how the course played – was it a nice course, or a goat track. That’s what I need to know if I’m going to book a tee time at a new course. I can see the price when I book, but I want to know if the value is there – the bang for the buck. Back in 2008 I’d wrote golf course reviews for a now extinct platform, but didn’t own the content I produced, and when it failed, my content was gone. I became a dad shortly thereafter and didn’t have time to keep doing it, but now my son is a teenager and I have some more time on my hands, so here I am trying it again. I’m not sure what will come of all this, but it’s something I enjoy doing. I’d love it if this became a reliable resource for golfers, and I’d love to start a community where we could talk about courses we like and don’t like. I’m always open to comments and suggestions. I can’t imagine making any money from this endeavor, and that’s not the point – however, a free round of golf here and there for reviewing a course would be great. Either way, I’ll always give you my honest thoughts on the courses I play and review. I hope you enjoy it!
